ShangHai Business Media Bridges Malaysia–Macao Business Connections, Turning Cross-Border Opportunities into Real Partnerships

KUALA LUMPUR, 4 September 2026 — As Malaysian businesses increasingly look beyond domestic markets for new growth opportunities, connections between Malaysian and Macao enterprises are gaining momentum, with business matching initiatives helping to turn initial conversations into tangible partnerships.

The Macao Economic, Trade and Tourism Investment Promotion Seminar (Malaysia) was held on 3 September 2026 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur, bringing together businesses and stakeholders to explore investment, trade and market opportunities between Malaysia and Macao.

For ShangHai Business Media, its role in the initiative goes beyond event participation. As a business connector between the two markets, ShangHai Business Media has been facilitating connections between Macao companies and Malaysian businesses, helping both sides identify potential partners based on their respective business needs.

Prior to the physical event, ShangHai Business Media facilitated online business matching sessions, allowing Malaysian and Macao companies to introduce their businesses, understand each other’s needs and explore potential areas of collaboration before meeting in person.

The initiative subsequently delivered a concrete outcome, with M&M Creations Holdings Sdn Bhd successfully connecting with a Macao company and signing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) during the event.

The signing marked an important step in moving the business relationships developed through the matching process towards potential long-term collaboration.

Beyond the signing ceremony, ShangHai Business Media also facilitated one-to-one business matching sessions during the event, giving participating Malaysian and Macao companies the opportunity to meet face-to-face and discuss potential collaborations, market expansion and cross-border business opportunities.

According to the event programme, the afternoon also featured presentations on Macao’s investment environment, tourism sector, big health industry and development opportunities within the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, alongside enterprise agreement signings and business networking.

Exploring New Opportunities in Macao

Beyond traditional business exchanges, Macao is also developing new initiatives to attract international and regional brands and encourage greater commercial activity.

Among these is the Macao First Store Economy Support Programme, introduced by the Macao SAR Government to encourage eligible international brands, as well as brands from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, to establish their first stores in Macao.

The three-year programme, administered by the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), with the Industrial and Commercial Development Fund as a collaborating entity, provides support for eligible brands in areas including start-up and operating expenses. Qualified applicants may receive funding of up to MOP 1 million, subject to the programme’s requirements and assessment criteria.

The initiative represents another avenue for businesses exploring Macao as a gateway to new consumer markets, greater brand exposure and broader opportunities within the Greater Bay Area.

From Business Matching to Meaningful Collaboration

For ShangHai Business Media, cross-border business development is not simply about bringing companies into the same room. It is about creating a structured path from introduction and matching to dialogue and, ultimately, collaboration.

The successful MOU signing involving M&M Creations Holdings demonstrates how business connections can progress from an initial online meeting to face-to-face engagement and formal partnership discussions.

Moving forward, ShangHai Business Media will continue to leverage its media platform, business network and cross-border resources to facilitate connections between Malaysian and Macao enterprises, creating more opportunities for companies to explore new markets, strategic partnerships and regional growth.

Connecting businesses is only the beginning. The real value lies in turning the right connections into meaningful opportunities.
